Lla Bristol Type 171 Sycomore était un des premiers hélicoptères développés et construits par la division hélicoptère de la Bristol Aeroplane Company. Le nom fait référence aux graines du sycomore, Acer pseudoplatanus, qui tombent avec un mouvement de rotation. Il a la particularité d’être le premier hélicoptère britannique à recevoir un certificat de navigabilité, ainsi que d’être le premier hélicoptère de conception britannique à être introduit par et à servir avec la Royal Air Force (RAF).
