Le Piper J-5 Cub Incrociatore was a larger, more powerful version of the basic Piper J-3 Cub. It was designed just two years after the J-3 Cub, and differed by having a wider fuselage with the pilot sitting in the front seat and two passengers sitting in the rear seat. Equipped with a 75-hp Continental engine the plane’s cruising speed was 75 mph. Though officially a three-seater, it would be more accurately described as a “two-and-a-half-seater”, as two adults would find themselves quite cramped in the wider rear seat. The Cruiser sold for $1,798 when it was first designed.

Per saperne di più:

The Piper J-5A Cub Cruiser was a light civil aircraft developed by Piper Aircraft in 1939. It was based on the Piper J-3 Cub, but had a wider fuselage that could seat three people: one pilot in the front and two passengers in the back. The J-5A was powered by a 75-hp Continental A-75 engine that gave it a cruising speed of 75 mph. The J-5A was mainly used for personal and recreational flying, but also served as an observation and liaison aircraft during World War II. The J-5A was later modified into the J-5B, J-5C and J-5D models with different engines and features. Piper produced 1,507 J-5s between 1940 and 1946.
