Den Messerschmitt Me-108 Taifun was a four-seat single-engine aircraft developed by Willy Messerschmitt, the chief engineer of Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (BFW) in Augsburg, Germany. The name Taifun (Typhoon) was given by the German aviator Elly Beinhorn, who flew a raid from Gleiwitz to Berlin to Istanbul on August 13, 1935. The Me-108 was designed as a sport and touring aircraft for the 1934 International Tourist Challenge.
