V Ilyushin Il-28 (rusko: Илью́шин Ил-28; Nato poročevalsko ime: Beagle) je letalo bombnik iz neposrednega podiplomskega obdobja, ki je bil prvotno izdelan za sovjetske zračne sile. To je bilo prvo takšno letalo Sovjetske zveze, ki je vstopilo v obsežno proizvodnjo. Na Kitajskem je bila zgrajena tudi kot harbin H-5. Skupna proizvodnja v ZSSR je bila 6.316 letal, zgrajenih je bilo več kot 319 H-5. Izdelanih je bilo le 187 primerov vadbene variante HJ-5. V 90. letih 20. Edini H-5 v službi trenutno je približno 80 letal, ki delujejo s korejskim narodnim letalstvom. Il-28 ima ime za poročanje USAF/DoD "Type 27" in NATO poročevalsko ime "Beagle", medtem ko ima različica trenerja Il-28U ime za poročanje USAF/DoD "Type 30" in Natovo poročevalsko ime Maskota.

General Characteristics and Role

The Ilyushin Il-28 (NATO reporting name: Beagle) was the first mass-produced Soviet jet bomber, serving as a critical aircraft for the Soviet Air Force and many Warsaw Pact and allied nations throughout the Cold War. Designed immediately after World War II, it was a robust, simple, and high-performance aircraft for its era, known for its conventional and highly effective layout. It pioneered the use of jet power in tactical bombing, reconnaissance, and training roles for the Soviet bloc. It saw extensive operational use globally, most notably during the Cuban Missile Crisis and various conflicts in the Middle East and Asia.
