The first Sea Fury prototype, powered by a Bristol Centaurus XII, had first flown on 21 February 1945, but the first fully-navalized version with folding wings did not fly until 12 October 1947. The Boulton Paul contract was cancelled in early 1945, and of the 100 Sea Furies that remained on order, the first 50 were completed under the designation Sea Fury Mk X.

Nel maggio 1948, le prime Sea Furies divennero operative con il No. 802 Squadron, sotto forma di Sea Fury FB.Mk 11, di cui furono costruiti 615. Almeno 66 di questi sono stati consegnati in Australia e Canada. Its reduced weight allowed it to achieve a top speed of 43.3 km/h.

Dans cette variante il a été largement utilisé pendant le conflit dans la région méditerranéenne où, grâce aux compétences des équipages il a remporté de nombreux succès contre les navires alliés, malgré les limites de sa formule et le manque d’armement défensif, et le manque de protection de l’équipage. .

These boats, designed in 1933-1934, were the first of a new generation of German attack U-boats known, as Type VII, they were popular with their crews and very agile on the surface. They also had a much more powerful striking power than the smaller Type II’s. They had 5 torpedo tubes (4 at the bow) and would carry 11 torpedoes onboard or 22 TMA (=33 TMB) mines. They also had the effective 88mm fast-firing deck gun with about 160 rounds of ammunition. Type VIIB was an improvement on this design with substantially increased range. All but two (U-29 and U-30, both scuttled in Kupfermühlen Bay on May 4, 1945) Type VIIA U-boats were sunk during World War Two.

La Supermarine Spitfire britannica stava affrontando diverse sfide verso la metà del 1942. Il debutto del formidabile Focke-Wulf Fw 190 alla fine del 1941 aveva causato problemi agli squadroni di caccia della RAF che pilotavano gli ultimi ingegneri della Spitfire Mk Vb. Rolls-Royce stavano già lavorando a una nuova versione del Merlin incorporando un supercharger a due fasi; la combinazione del merlin migliorato e della cellula Spitfire Mk VC in un design "stop-gap" permise alla RAF di combattere l'Fw 190 a parità di condizioni. In un secondo flusso di sviluppo Supermarine stava lavorando su una cellula Spitfire migliorata e rinforzata che incorporava diverse nuove caratteristiche ed era stata progettata per i motori merlin serie 60 e 70. Questa nuova cellula in seguito formò la base per gli Spitfire alimentati dalla Rolls-Royce Griffon.

A teardrop shaped blister for a Coffman cartridge starter can be seen just behind the propeller. This aircraft carries a 30-gallon “slipper” drop tank under the fuselage. In the early months of 1942, with the clear superiority of the Focke Wulf Fw 190 over the Spitfire VB, there was much pressure to get Spitfires into production using the new two-stage supercharged Merlin 61 engine. In September 1941 the Spitfire Mk III prototype N3297 had been converted by Rolls-Royce at their Hucknall plant to take a Merlin 60, which had been specifically designed for use in the Wellington Mk VI high altitude bomber.

Il Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero era un bombardiere medio italiano a tre motori con struttura in legno e metallo. Originariamente progettato come un aereo passeggeri veloce, questo monoplano ad ala bassa, negli anni 1937-39, ha stabilito 26 record mondiali che lo qualificarono per qualche tempo come il bombardiere medio più veloce del mondo.

Vide per la prima volta l'azione durante la guerra civile spagnola e volò su tutti i fronti in cui l'Italia fu coinvolta durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Divenne famoso e ottenne molti successi come aerosilurante nel teatro mediterraneo. L'SM.79 era un aereo eccezionale ed era certamente l'aereo italiano più noto della seconda guerra mondiale. Era facilmente riconoscibile grazie alla sua caratteristica "gobba" dorsale della fusoliera, ed era ben piaciuto dai suoi equipaggi che lo soprannominavano Gobbo Maledetto ("maledetto gobbo"). Fu il bombardiere italiano più prodotto della seconda guerra mondiale, con circa 1.300 esemplari costruiti, rimanendo in servizio in Italia fino al 1952.
