Tthe K1 는 한국군과 함께 사용되는 한국의 주요 전투탱크로, 현대정밀(이후 현대로템)이 개발했다. 차량의 초기 설계 작업은 General Dynamics의 M1 Abrams를 기반으로했으며, 한반도의 산악 및 늪지대에서의 작전 수행에 필요한 운영 능력을 충족시키기 위해 수력 공압 서스펜션과 비틀림 바의 결합 된 시스템, 강을 건너는 포드 키트 등 눈에 띄는 차이점이 있습니다. K1A1은 1999 년에 서비스에 들어갔고 120mm 스무스 보어 건으로 업그레이드되었으며 삼성전자가 개발 한보다 현대적인 전자 제품, 탄도 컴퓨터 및 사격 제어 시스템을 갖추고 있습니다. 현대로템은 1985년부터 2010년까지 1,511대의 K1과 K1A1 전차를 생산했다.

General Characteristics
The K1 Main Battle Tank, also referred to as the Type 88 (88 전차), was the first domestically developed tank of the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA). Its design, which began in the early 1980s, was heavily influenced by the US M1 Abrams, but was modified to suit South Korea’s specific operational requirements, particularly its mountainous terrain. This led to unique features like the hybrid hydropneumatic and torsion bar suspension system and a lower profile than the M1 Abrams. The K1 series remains the backbone of the ROKA’s armored forces.
