Le Grumman TBF Avenger (désigné aussi TBM pour ceux qui ont été construits par General Motors) est un bombardier-torpilleur américain initialement développé pour la Marine des États-Unis et le Corps des Marines des États-Unis et utilisé par un grand nombre de forces aériennes dans le monde. Il entra en service en 1942 et fut utilisé pour la première fois au cours de la bataille de Midway. Le TBD Devastator, le principal bombardier-torpilleur de la Marine américaine de 1935 à 1942 était déjà obsolète en 1939. Grumman développa un nouvel avion dont le premier prototype fut appelé XTBF-1.

The Cromwell tank, officially Tank, Cruiser, Mk VIII, Cromwell (A27M), was one of the series of cruiser tanks fielded by Britain in the Second World War. Named after the English Civil War leader Oliver Cromwell, the Cromwell was the first tank put into service by the British to combine high speed from a powerful and reliable engine (the Rolls-Royce Meteor), and reasonable armour. However, the originally proposed dual-purpose high velocity gun could not be fitted in the turret and the medium velocity dual purpose gun fitted proved inadequate. An improved version with a high velocity gun became the Comet tank.

The Vought F4U Corsair is an American fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. Demand for the aircraft soon overwhelmed Vought’s manufacturing capability, resulting in production by Goodyear and Brewster: Goodyear-built Corsairs were designated FG and Brewster-built aircraft F3A. From the first prototype delivery to the U.S. Navy in 1940, to final delivery in 1953 to the French, 12,571 F4U Corsairs were manufactured, in 16 separate models, in the longest production run of any piston-engined fighter in U.S. history (1942–53).

The self-propelled gun Grid (meaning "cricket" in German) was used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. Two versions existed, both based on the chassis of the Czech Panzer 38(t) tank equipped with a 150 mm sIG 33 infantry gun. It was significantly more successful than the bison 15 cm sIG 33 (Sf) auf Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf B and 15 cm sIG 33 auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen II.

Histoire:

Le SU-100 est un chasseur de chars soviétique utilisé durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale pour remplacer le SU-85. Il a été développé en 1944 comme une amélioration de la SU-85, construit sur le même châssis que le char T-34-85. Il a été conçu et construit à l’UZTM (russe abbreviature УЗТМ pour Уральский Завод Тяжелого Машиностроения – Ural usine de machines lourdes, aussi appelé Uralmash) à Ekaterinbourg. Le SU-100 s’est rapidement avéré être parmi les meilleurs automoteurs canons anti-chars de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, capable de pénétrer 125 mm de blindage vertical.

It was developed to meet the urgent need for additional British fighters in 1940 during the Battle of Britain. Although performing at low altitudes thanks to its high aerodynamic finesse, its Allison engine, whose supercharger system is not very advanced, initially limited its use as an air superiority fighter. Following the adaptation of the excellent British Rolls Royce Merlin engine, the P-51D became the escort aircraft the United States needed to accompany its large daytime raids of strategic bombers over Germany. At the beginning of 1944, he had a decisive part in obtaining the air superiority that allowed the invasion of Europe. It is one of the three great American hunters of the Second World War by number, with 15,586 copies produced2. Its main assets are its speed and above all its very wide range of action. Many consider him the best propeller fighter of all time. The name Mustang of the aircraft was given by the British, the Americans having first named it Apache before adopting the British name.

Photo gallery on a Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2, The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is a Single-engine German single-engine fighter designed in the 1930s by German engineer Willy Messerschmitt in response to a tender from the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) for the design of a modern fighter to equip the Luftwaffe Emerging. Around the most powerful engine available, a Junkers Jumo 210 12-cylinder inverted V, Messerschmitt designed the thinnest possible airframe, using very innovative techniques he had developed for the Bf 108 light aircraft. The prototype Bf 109, superior to its competitors, was finally chosen, despite the enmity of the Minister of the Air, Erhard Milch, towards Messerschmitt. Suite à sa participation à la guerre d’Espagne, le Bf 109 fut remotorisé par un moteur Daimler Benz pour pratiquer de façon encore plus efficace les nouvelles tactiques de combat aérien qu’il avait permis de mettre au point.

The Medium Tank M4 est le char américain moyen produit en plus grande quantité pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Près de cinquante mille exemplaires (toutes versions confondues) furent produits. Son surnom de « Sherman », lui est attribué par les Britanniques, quand ils reçoivent leurs premiers exemplaires dans le cadre de la loi de prêt-bail, continuant leur tradition de nommer les chars d’origine américaine d’après le nom d’un général nordiste de la guerre de Sécession célèbre de ce pays. L’US Army adopte par la suite ce surnom, et le Medium Tank M4 est dès lors appelé « M4 Sherman ». Les Soviétiques surnomment les leurs « Emcha ». Le M-50 en est une évolution Israélienne.
