The Douglas SBD Dauntless was a World War II American naval scout plane and dive bomber that was manufactured by Douglas Aircraft from 1940 through 1944. The SBD (“Scout Bomber Douglas”) was the United States Navy’s main carrier-borne scout plane and dive bomber from mid-1940 through mid-1944. The SBD was also flown by the United States Marine Corps, both from land air bases and aircraft carriers. The SBD is best remembered as the bomber that delivered the fatal blows to the Japanese carriers at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The type earned its nickname “Slow But Deadly” (with the SBD initials) during this period.

The turret and various equipment were retained compared to the T2-6 so this tank is considered only as an extension of the T-26 and not as a real creation, besides its production did not exceed the few dozen units because it will be very quickly outclassed by the arrival of the series of BT-5 and BT-7 tanks.

The Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero (Italian for “Sparrowhawk”) was a three-engined Italian medium bomber with a wood and metal structure. In the years 1937–39 it was originally designed as a fast passenger aircraft, this low-wing monoplane, set 26 world records that qualified it for some time as the fastest medium bomber in the world.

It first saw action during the Spanish Civil War and flew on all fronts in which Italy was involved during World War II. It became famous and achieved many successes as a torpedo bomber in the Mediterranean theater. The SM.79 was an outstanding aircraft and was certainly the best known Italian aeroplane of World War II. It was easily recognizable due to its distinctive fuselage dorsal “hump”, and was well liked by its crews who nicknamed it Gobbo Maledetto (“damned hunchback”). It was the most widely produced Italian bomber of World War II, with some 1,300 built, remaining in Italian service until 1952.

Photo gallery of a D4Y Suisei Comet Judy, The Yokosuka (横須賀?) D4Y Suisei (彗星 “Comet”) Navy Type 2 Carrier Dive bomber was operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy. Its Allied reporting name was “Judy”. The D4Y was one of the fastest dive-bombers of the war, and only the delays in its development hindered its service, while its predecessor, the slower fixed-gear Aichi D3A remained in service much longer than intended. Despite limited use, the speed and the range of the D4Y was nevertheless valuable, and the type was used with success as reconnaissance aircraft as well as for kamikaze missions.
