Den FM-2 Vildkatt was designed and prototyped by Grumman Aircraft. More than 4000 were built by the Eastern Aircraft Division of the General Motors Company between 1943 – 1945. These aircraft incorporated a lighter airframe and a more powerful engine. This meant there was a physical design difference between the F4F and the FM-2. The FM-2 had a taller vertical tail for stability to counter the increased torque of the engine. Armament consisted of 4 – .50 cal. guns, 2 – external bomb or fuel racks and air to ground rocket launch points on the wings. These aircraft were primarily operated from escort carriers to support ground operations in the Pacific theater of operations. These same aircraft were teamed with Grumman Avengers and used in anti-sub operations in the Atlantic against U-boats.

Une nouveauté 2012 de la marque Dragon Model Satsen: Ardelt-Rheinmetall 8.8cm Pak 43 Waffentrager – DML 6728.

Den Waffenträger (« porteur d’armes ») était un concept allemand datant de 1942 de véhicules destinés à transporter des tourelles amovibles, armées de canons ou obusiers de campagne de 105 mm. Il se traduisit par le création de plusieurs prototypes de châssis de chars transportant des tourelles armées de pièces d’artilleries, qui seraient déposées au sol avant chaque tir, le véhicule étant dès lors utilisé pour l’acheminement d’autres tourelles, ou pour acheminer les munitions de l’arrière vers le tourelles.

Le besoin tactique d’un tel arrangement étant très incertain, l’idée ne dépassa pas la réalisation de quelques engins, dont voici la liste : Heuschrecke IV B : 1942. 8 engins produits. Un canon de campagne de 10,5-cm sur châssis de Panzer IV. L’un de ces canons-automoteurs est exposé au Imperial War Museum de Londres. Heuschrecke sur châssis hybride de Panzer III/IV, avec canon de campagne de 10,5-cm : restent quelques photographies de quelques prototypes.

Irak var en viktig aktör på T-54/55 och beställde sina första 250 T-54 från det forna Sovjetunionen 1958, följt av ytterligare 50 1965. Många av dessa förlorades under Yom Kippur-kriget så 300 T-55:or beställdes 1973. Andra inköp följde: 50 och 400 T-55 från överskottslagren i Östtyskland respektive Polen 1980; 250 T-55 och 150 TR-580 (rumänsk version av T-55) från Egypten respektive Rumänien 1981; ytterligare 400 T-55, inklusive några tjeckiskbyggda exemplar, från f.d. Sovjetunionen 1981; och cirka 1 500 stridsvagnar av typ 59 och typ 69 köptes från Kina under 1980-talet.

Stridsvagnarna T-54 och T-55 är en serie sovjetiska stridsvagnar som introducerades under åren efter andra världskriget. Den första T-54 prototypen färdigställdes på Nizhny Tagil i slutet av 1945. Den initiala produktionen ramp upp satte för 1947 på Nizhny Tagil, och 1948 för Kharkov stoppades och inskränktes, som många problem avtäcktes; T-34-85 stod fortfarande för 88 procent av produktionen under 50-tal. T-54 blev så småningom huvudtanken för pansarförband i den sovjetiska armén, arméer i Warszawapakten och många andra. T-54s och T-55s har varit inblandade i många av världens väpnade konflikter sedan senare delen av 1900-talet.

US Navy pilots nicknamed the Helldiver “the Beast”. It was not a popular plane, not easy to fly. Curtiss Aircraft designed this plane to US Navy specifications, which forced it to be too small for everything it was trying to do – have long range, carry 1,000 lbs and be a scout/bomber to replace the Douglas Dauntless. The Navy was gearing up for WW2, the plane was ordered into production before the first prototype had flown. After two years, they had improved the plane somewhat, but could never overcome the basic design limitations.

Just because the plane was not a war winner, does’t mean this isn’t a good book. This series of books has excellent, concise histories with lots of diagrams, black and white photos and color schemes used by the Navy during WW2 and afterwards. All versions are addressed, making this a great book for a modeler or aviation fan.

Totalt 1 715 Orkaner flög med Fighter Command under perioden för slaget om Storbritannien, långt över alla andra brittiska jaktplan tillsammans. Hurricane var ett robust, manövrerbart flygplan som kunde uthärda fruktansvärda stridsskador innan det avskrevs. och till skillnad från Spitfire var det ett fullt operativt jaktplan som kunde användas var som helst och göra vad som helst i juli 1940.

Det uppskattas att dess piloter krediterades med fyra femtedelar av alla fientliga flygplan som förstördes under perioden juli-oktober 1940.

Den M12 Kanonmotorvagn est un canon automoteur blindé développé par l’armée américaine. À la suite de la Première Guerre mondiale, l’U.S Army Department s’intéressa au développement d’une artillerie lourde automotrice utilisant le canon de 155mm, mais il n’y eut pas de développement immédiat suite au peu d’enthousiasme de la branche de l’artillerie de campagne (FAB). C’est avec le second conflit mondial et la possibilité d’une opération sur un terrain de manœuvre comme l’Europe que cette arme fut réétudiée comme soutien d’artillerie pour les unités blindées. Cette idée fut reprise dès juin 1941 en associant le châssis du M3 Lee aux vieux canons français M1917 et M1918A1 de 155mm.

The PT-76 is one of several light amphibious tanks developed and used by the Soviet Army. Although the PT-76 is lightly armored for a modern tank, its inherent amphibious capability outweighs these limitations. It has had widespread use in the Warsaw Pact and many other countries. ThePT-76 carries a 76mm main gun with a maximum effective range of approximately 1500 meters.

Operated by a three man crew, the PT-76 is often used to transport troops. The fact that the commander is also the gunner and radio operator reduces his effectiveness as an observer. The PT-76 also lagged behind other Soviet armored fighting vehicles in having no night vision equipment and no NBC protection system for the three-man crew.
