The GippsAero GA8 Airvan is a single-engine utility aircraft designed and manufactured by GippsAero (formerly Gippsland Aeronautics) of Victoria, Australia. It can seat up to eight people, including the pilot, and can be used for various missions such as passenger and cargo transport, aerial survey, tourism, skydiving, and humanitarian aid. The GA8 Airvan is powered by a Lycoming IO-540-K1A5 engine that produces 300 horsepower. It has a high-wing configuration with fixed tricycle landing gear and a large sliding door on the right side of the fuselage.
The GA8 Airvan has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,814 kg (4,000 lb) and a maximum cruise speed of 213 km/h (132 mph). It has a range of 1,285 km (798 mi) and a service ceiling of 6,096 m (20,000 ft). The GA8 Airvan was certified by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority in 2000 and by the US Federal Aviation Administration in 2004. It has been sold to customers in Australia, New Zealand, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. As of March 2021, more than 250 GA8 Airvans have been delivered worldwide.
