Until the early 1970s Czechoslovakia and Poland produced around 4,500 OT-64 SKOTs of all variants, just under a third of which were exported. In 2002, the modernization of the SKOT transporter began in Poland. The work resulted in the KTO Ryś prepared by Wojskowe Zakłady Mechaniczne No. 5 from Poznań.

Daugiau informacijos:

The OT-64 SKOT is a wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier that was developed jointly by Poland and Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. It was designed to replace the OT-810, a halftrack vehicle based on the German Sd.Kfz. 251 from World War II. The OT-64 SKOT has an 8×8 configuration and can carry up to 18 passengers. It is armed with a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun and a 14.5 mm KPV machine gun mounted on a turret.
The vehicle has a diesel engine produced by Tatra and a pre-select Praga-Wilson gearbox with five forward and one reverse gears. The OT-64 SKOT can travel at speeds of up to 94 km/h on road and 9 km/h in water. It has a central inflation system for the tires and a wave deflector trim vane for amphibious operations. The OT-64 SKOT was used by the armies of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and several other countries in various wars and conflicts. It was also exported to many countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The OT-64 SKOT was later modernized and upgraded with new weapons, armor and equipment.
