The Ordnance Quick-Firing 6-pounder 7 cwt, or just 6 pounder, was a British 57 mm gun, their primary anti-tank gun during the middle of World War II, as well as the main armament for a number of armoured fighting vehicles. It was first used in North Africa in April 1942, and quickly replaced the 2 pounder in the anti-tank role, allowing the 25 pounder to revert to its intended artillery role. The United States Army also adopted the 6 pdr as their primary anti-tank gun under the designation 57 mm Gun M1.

During World War II, The Enfield Cycle Company was called upon by the British authorities to develop and manufacture military motorcycles. The models produced for the military were the WD/C 350 cc sidevalve, WD/CO 350 cc OHV, WD/D 250 cc SV, WD/G 350 cc OHV and WD/L 570 cc SV. One of the most well-known Enfields was the Royal Enfield WD/RE, known as the Flying Flea, a lightweight 125 cc motorcycle designed to be dropped by parachute with airborne troops.[2] In order to establish a facility not vulnerable to the wartime bombing of the Midlands, an underground factory was set up, starting in 1942, in a disused “Bath Stone” quarry at Westwood, near Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. Many staff were transferred from Redditch and an estate of “prefabs” was built in Westwood to house them.

The Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) was originally a Czech tank of pre-World War II design. After Czechoslovakia was taken over by Germany, it was adopted by the German Army, seeing service in the invasions of Poland, France and Russia. Production ended in 1942, when its armament was deemed inadequate. In all, over 1400 were manufactured. The chassis continued to be produced for Marder III (1942-1944) and Hetzer (1944-1945) tank destroyers, turretless assault guns, anti-tank guns and anti-aircraft guns.

The Ford Maultier v1939 was a half-track truck used by the Germans during World War II. It was based on the Ford VS 3000 S/S truck, which had a V8 engine and a payload of 3 tons. The Maultier (meaning “mule”) was designed to improve the mobility and traction of the truck on rough terrain and snow. The rear wheels were replaced by a tracked suspension system, while the front wheels remained unchanged. The Ford Maultier v1939 was mainly used for transport and supply duties, but some were also equipped with anti-aircraft guns or rocket launchers. The Ford Maultier v1939 was one of several models of half-track trucks produced by the Germans, along with the Opel Maultier and the Mercedes-Benz Maultier.

The Ju 88 was a World War II German Luftwaffe twin-engine, multi-role aircraft. Designed by Hugo Junkers’ company in the mid-1930s, it suffered from a number of technical problems during the later stages of its development and early operational roles, but became one of the most versatile combat aircraft of the war. Affectionately known as “The Maid of all Work” (a feminine version of “jack of all trades”), the Ju 88 proved to be suited to almost any role. Like a number of other Luftwaffe bombers, it was used successfully as a bomber, dive bomber, night fighter, torpedo bomber, reconnaissance aircraft, heavy fighter, and even as a flying bomb during the closing stages of conflict.

BA-20 (Russian: BroneAvtomobil 20) developed in the Soviet Union in 1936 on a chassis of civilian GAZ-M1 car as a scout vehicle. The BA-20s tires were designed to be resistant to bullets and shrapnel by the simple expedient of filling them with spongy rubber. The BA-20 was used by the Red Army in the Soviet invasion of Poland later in 1939 and the Winter War against Finland in 1940, as well as the early stages of WW II. Production was ended 1941, with some 4,800 BA-20s built.
