O Sino P-39 O "Airacobra" foi um dos principais caças em serviço com as forças americanas no início da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Foi construído pela Bell Aircraft Corporation. Seu voo inaugural foi em abril de 1939. O design incomum da aeronave apresentava um motor Allison montado no meio da fuselagem, logo atrás do piloto, conduzindo a hélice através de um eixo de transmissão que passava entre os pés do piloto. Um canhão T9 de 37 mm disparou através do centro do cubo da hélice. A entrada para o cockpit era através de uma porta lateral. Um total de 9.584 exemplares foram produzidos, com mais da metade sendo enviada para a União Soviética sob o programa de empréstimo-arrendamento.

O alemão Jagdpanther is regarded by the ordnance experts as one of the best tracked weapons systems during the World War 2. The awesome Pak43/3, L71 88mm gun was mounted on the proven Panther medium tank chassis. The gun was installed into the box shaped superstructure which used thick steel armor of 80mm at the front and 50mm at the sides. These frontal and side armor plates were effectively inclined to obtain an improved protection. The gun mantlet called “Saukopf” (sow head) had a thickness of 100mm.

A ball mounted MG42 bow machine gun was installed at the right side of the main gun. Weighing in at 46 tons and propelled by the powerful Maybach V12 cylinder engine, this tank destroyer had a well-balanced fire power, protection and mobility to high standards. Mass production started in January 1944 at MIAG firm, and during its production career, several improvements and alterations were made with feedback from the front lines. Early production models used a nearly flush gun mantlet collar, but it was replaced with a larger, bolt-fixed collar in October 1944. Larger diameter idler wheels were introduced at the same time. A heater for the crew compartment, and the same exhaust covers as equipped on the late production Panther G tanks were added, beginning from December. The Jagdpanther was first deployed to the Normandy campaign in June 1944, and 415 units were produced until April 1945.

O Macchi MC 200, designed by renowned engineer Mario Castoldi, has been a significant evolution in the production of Italian fighter planes. Compared to biplane Fiat Fiat CR 32 and CR 42, which were still at the beginning of the Second World War, the backbone of the Italian fighter squadrons, the Macchi MC 200 was characterized, along with his contemporary Fiat G50, for a monoplane configuration and for the metal construction throughout.

The 14-cylinder radial engine Fiat A.74 RC 38 double star could provide a power of 840 horses, and to reach a Macchi Mc 200 to 500 km / h. Compared to the corresponding hunting allies the Macchi Mc 200 was, however, not very powerful and, above all, little concrete. The armament consisted of two sun-machine guns Breda SAFAT 12.7 mm mounted above the characteristic of the engine cowling dimpled. In later versions were added two Breda machine guns-SAFAT 7.7 mm in the wings. It has been used by the Royal Air Force on the main fronts of the Second Mondial War in Africa, the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Russia.

O Gato selvagem FM-2 was designed and prototyped by Grumman Aircraft. More than 4000 were built by the Eastern Aircraft Division of the General Motors Company between 1943 – 1945. These aircraft incorporated a lighter airframe and a more powerful engine. This meant there was a physical design difference between the F4F and the FM-2. The FM-2 had a taller vertical tail for stability to counter the increased torque of the engine. Armament consisted of 4 – .50 cal. guns, 2 – external bomb or fuel racks and air to ground rocket launch points on the wings. These aircraft were primarily operated from escort carriers to support ground operations in the Pacific theater of operations. These same aircraft were teamed with Grumman Avengers and used in anti-sub operations in the Atlantic against U-boats.

Uma novidade de 2012 da marca Dragon Model le kit : Ardelt-Rheinmetall 8.8cm Pack 43 Waffentrager – DML 6728.

O Waffenträger ("porta-armas") foi um conceito alemão datado de 1942 de veículos destinados a transportar torres removíveis, armados com pistolas de campo de 105 mm ou howitzers. Resultou na criação de vários protótipos de chassis de tanques carregando torres armadas com peças de artilharia, que seriam colocadas no chão antes de cada tiro, o veículo sendo usado para o transporte de outras torres, ou para transportar munição da parte traseira para as torres.

A necessidade tática de tal arranjo ser muito incerto, a ideia não foi além da realização de algumas máquinas, das quais aqui está a lista: Heuschrecke IV B : 1942. 8 engins produits. Un canon de campagne de 10,5-cm sur châssis de Panzer IV. L’un de ces canons-automoteurs est exposé au Imperial War Museum de Londres. Heuschrecke sur châssis hybride de Panzer III/IV, avec canon de campagne de 10,5-cm : restent quelques photographies de quelques prototypes.

Iraque era um grande operador de T-54/55 tanques de série e encomendou seus primeiros 250 T-54s da antiga União Soviética em 1958, seguido por mais 50 em 1965. Muitos destes foram perdidos durante a Guerra do Yom Kippur, então 300 T-55 foram ordenados em 1973. Outras compras seguiram-se: 50 e 400 T-55s dos estoques excedentes da Alemanha Oriental e polônia, respectivamente, em 1980; 250 T-55s e 150 TR-580s (versão romena do T-55) do Egito e romênia, respectivamente, em 1981; outros 400 T-55, incluindo alguns exemplos tchecos, da antiga União Soviética em 1981; e cerca de 1.500 tanques Tipo 59 e Tipo 69 foram comprados da China durante a década de 1980.

The T-54 and T-55 tanks are a series of Soviet main battle tanks introduced in the years following the Second World War. The first T-54 prototype was completed at Nizhny Tagil by the end of 1945. Initial production ramp up settled for 1947 at Nizhny Tagil, and 1948 for Kharkov were halted and curtailed as many problems were uncovered; the T-34-85 still accounted for 88 percent of production through the 50’s. The T-54 eventually became the main tank for armoured units of the Soviet Army, armies of the Warsaw Pact countries, and many others. T-54s and T-55s have been involved in many of the world’s armed conflicts since the later part of the 20th century.

Pilotos da Marinha dos EUA apelidados de Helldiver "a Besta". Não era um avião popular, não era fácil de pilotar. A Curtiss Aircraft projetou este avião de acordo com as especificações da Marinha dos EUA, o que o forçou a ser pequeno demais para tudo o que estava tentando fazer - ter longo alcance, transportar 1.000 libras e ser um batedor / bombardeiro para substituir o Douglas Dauntless. A Marinha estava se preparando para a 2ª Guerra Mundial, o avião foi encomendado para a produção antes que o primeiro protótipo tivesse voado. Depois de dois anos, eles melhoraram um pouco o avião, mas nunca conseguiram superar as limitações básicas do projeto.

Só porque o avião não foi um vencedor de guerra, não significa que este não seja um bom livro. Esta série de livros tem histórias excelentes e concisas com muitos diagramas, fotos em preto e branco e esquemas de cores usados pela Marinha durante a 2ª Guerra Mundial e depois. Todas as versões são abordadas, tornando este um ótimo livro para um modelador ou fã de aviação.
