The Fokker F-27 Friendship is a Dutch turboprop airliner designed and built by the Fokker aircraft company. It holds the distinction of being one of the most successful Western European airliners of its era, becoming a fixture on short-haul and regional routes worldwide for decades. Developed as a successor to the DC-3, the F-27 was specifically designed for short-range, high-frequency flights and featured a high wing and pressurized cabin, making it comfortable for passengers while maintaining versatility for freight and military transport roles. Over 780 aircraft were built or licensed worldwide (including the Fairchild F-27/FH-227 in the US), demonstrating its lasting success and reliability in rugged environments.
