Tthe 하얼빈 SH-5 is a Chinese maritime patrol amphibious aircraft intended for a wide range of duties, including aerial firefighting, anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and air-sea rescue (ASR). One prototype and six production aircraft have been built.

The Harbin SH-5 is a Chinese maritime patrol amphibious aircraft that was developed in the 1970s and entered service in 1986. It is intended for a wide range of duties, including aerial firefighting, anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship warfare, electronic warfare and air-sea rescue. The SH-5 is powered by four Dongan WJ-5A turboprop engines and has a wingspan of 36 meters and a length of 38.9 meters.
It can carry up to 10 tons of cargo or 6 tons of weapons on four underwing hardpoints and an internal bomb bay. The SH-5 is equipped with a type 698 radar in the nose, a magnetic anomaly detector in the tail and various electronic countermeasures systems. The SH-5 can operate from both land and water, with a maximum speed of 560 km/h and a range of 4,756 km. Only seven SH-5s were built, including one prototype and one modified for firefighting duties. The SH-5s are operated by the People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force from an aircraft base near Qingdao, Shandong province.
