De Arado Ar 196 was een verkenningsvliegtuig met lage vleugels, gebouwd door de Duitse firma Arado vanaf 1936. Het volgende jaar werd het geselecteerd als de winnaar van een ontwerpwedstrijd en werd het het standaardvliegtuig van de Kriegsmarine (Duitse marine) tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

The Arado Ar 196 was the standard shipboard reconnaissance aircraft of the German Kriegsmarine (Navy) throughout World War II, replacing the older Heinkel He 60 biplane. The A-3 was a heavily armed production variant with a reinforced structure.
