USS Bowfin (SS/AGSS-287), a Balao-class submarine, was a boat of the United States Navy named for the bowfin fish. Since 1981, she has been open to public tours at the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, next to the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center. Bowfin was laid down by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard at Kittery, Maine, on 23 July 1942, and launched on 7 December 1942 by Mrs. Jane Gawne, wife of Captain James Gawne, and commissioned on 1 May 1943, Commander Joseph H. Willingham in command.

Le sous-marin USS Bowfin est un navire historique qui a servi dans le théâtre du Pacifique de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il a été lancé le 7 décembre 1942, exactement un an après l’attaque de Pearl Harbor, et a gagné le surnom de « Vengeur de Pearl Harbor » pour son rôle dans le naufrage de 44 navires ennemis au cours de ses neuf patrouilles de guerre. Le Bowfin a été désarmé en 1947 et est devenu un navire-musée en 1981. Il fait maintenant partie du mémorial national de Pearl Harbor à Hawaii, où les visiteurs peuvent visiter son intérieur et en apprendre davantage sur son histoire et son héritage.
