Den Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter var ett tungt militärt fraktflygplan med lång räckvidd som utvecklades av bombplanen B-29 och B-50. Designarbetet påbörjades 1942, den första av 3 prototyper av XC-97 flög den 9 november 1944 (ingen av dem deltog i strid) och den första av 6 YC-97 flög den 11 mars 1947. Alla dessa var baserade på 24ST legeringsstrukturen och Wright R-3350-motorerna från B-29 men med en övre lob med större diameter på flygkroppen (vilket gjorde en figur av åtta eller "dubbelbubbel"-sektion) och de hade B-29:ans vertikala svans med skyttens position avspärrad. Mellan 1944 och 1958 byggdes 888 C-97 i flera versioner, varav 811 var KC-97 tankers. C-97 tjänstgjorde i luftbron till Berlin, Koreakriget och Vietnamkriget.

The **Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter** was a long-range strategic military transport aircraft developed from the successful B-29 Superfortress bomber during World War II. The **C-97G** represents the ultimate pure transport variant, though many were later converted to the KC-97 aerial tanker role.
