The AMX 50 (official designation) or AMX-50 was a French heavy tank designed in the immediate post Second World War period. It was proposed as, in succession, the French medium, heavy, and main battle tank, incorporating many advanced features. It was cancelled in the late 1950s however, due to unfavourable economic and political circumstances after serious delays in development.

The AMX-50 was a French heavy tank project that started in 1949 and aimed to create a modern and powerful tank that could rival the German Tiger II and Panther. The AMX-50 had several innovative features, such as an oscillating turret, a 120 mm gun, and a Maybach engine. However, the project faced many technical and political difficulties, and was eventually cancelled in the late 1950s. The AMX-50 never entered service, but influenced the design of later French tanks, such as the AMX-30 and the Leclerc.
