Den SFINKS (Secret Project for High Intensity and New Conflicts) ble utviklet av Panhard som et privat foretak for å møte en fransk hær EBCR (Engine Blinde de Reconnaissance et de Combat) krav. EBRC står for pansret kjøretøy for rekognosering og kamp. Et nytt pansret kjøretøy skal erstatte de aldrende AMX-10RC og ERC-90 Sagaie.

General Characteristics (EBRC Program Submission)

The SPHINX was a 6×6 armored vehicle concept developed by Panhard (now Arquus) as a private venture and a candidate for the French Army’s EBRC (Armoured Vehicle for Reconnaissance and Combat) program, aimed at replacing the older ERC-90 Sagaie.

  • Mine Protection: Features a V-shaped hull design for enhanced resistance against mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), achieving STANAG Level 3a/3b protection.
  • Air Transport: Designed to be transportable by air in a C-130 or Airbus A400M.

  • Engine: Turbocharged V12 diesel engine (e.g., Mercedes or Steyr unit).
  • Power Output: Approx. 600 hp (447 kW).

  • Steering: All six wheels are steerable for superior maneuverability.
