Fuchs was the second wheeled armoured vehicle to enter service with the Bundeswehr (West German Army) and it can be used for tasks including troop transport, engineer transport, bomb disposal, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical reconnaissance and electronic warfare. RMMV and its predecessors manufactured 1,236 Fuchs 1, most for the German Army.

Le TPz 1 Fuchs Pioniergruppen is a variant of the TPz 1 Fuchs armoured personnel carrier designed for engineering tasks. It is used by the German Army and other NATO forces for mine clearing, obstacle breaching, and bridge laying operations. The vehicle has a crew of three and can carry six engineers with their equipment.
