Flere oplysninger:

USS Becuna was a Balao-class submarine that served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1969. She was named after the becuna, a type of European fish. She participated in five war patrols during World War II, operating in the Pacific Ocean against the Japanese naval forces. She sank two enemy tankers and damaged another, earning four battle stars for her actions. After the war, she underwent a major overhaul as part of the GUPPY program, which improved her underwater speed, endurance, and stealth. She became a training and surveillance vessel during the Cold War, conducting missions in various regions such as the Arctic Circle, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. She was decommissioned in 1969 and became a museum ship in Philadelphia in 1976. She is now part of the Independence Seaport Museum and is a National Historic Landmark.
