Description

La première, le 88mm Flak18 and its variants, is an anti-aircraft play. It has been produced in large numbers and it is it that is the basis of the fame of the "Flak 88mm".

Elles ont souvent été confondues et appelées communément “88" by the Allied armies, while the Germans called them rather "acht acht" (eight-eight).

Republic P-47D Thunderbolt

A kit from the brand Tamiya the kit: «Republic P-47D Thunderbolt – “Razorback” – Tamiya 61086 ».

This high-flying fighter was armed with eight 12.7mm machineguns that proved very useful in the intense fighting that occurred in the European skies. Equipped with drop tanks for longer range, the P-47D was then able to escort the bombers all the way to the German border. The Thunderbolt also allowed many Allied pilots to become Aces. Bomber crews plagued day after day by intensive German interceptions, would remark that the presence of the P-47 was of great help.

In 1943, the 8th Air Force was launching raids on Germany with its B17 and B24 from England. The aim was to destroy German main production factories. Unfortunately, losses during theses missions were very heavy and it became urgent to develop a fighter able to escort the bombers over enemy soil. The limited ranges of the Spitfire and P-38 Lightning did not make these fighters able to go further than Paris, leaving the bombers alone to fend for themselves for the rest of the flight. With the development of the P-47, this problem was overcome. The P-47 was the first single-seated fighter to be equipped with a supercharger, allowing it to fly at the same high altitude as the bombers.

photo gallery on a P-47G Thunderbolt, The Hunter Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the most heavily weighted U.S. aircraft during the Second World War. Not just because it was one of the most built fighters to date (14,500 units) but because it was very effective in fire support missions, to the point that it eventually became its main role as its weak enough performance for a fighter did not allow it to compete with its counterpart the P-51 Mustang. Its raw finish and size earned it the nickname Scourge (Jug being the abbreviation of Juggernaut).

Unquestionably the most successful dive-bomber ever to see frontline service with any air arm, the Douglas SBD Dauntless was the scourge of the Japanese Imperial Fleet in the crucial years of the Pacific War. The revolutionary all-metal stressed-skin design of the SBD exhibited airframe strength that made it an ideal dive-bomber, its broad wing, with horizontal centre section and sharply tapered outer panels with dihedral, boasting perforated split flaps that doubled as dive brakes during the steep bombing attacks

A book signed Osprey Publishing the book «Modelling the IS Heavy Tank – Osprey Modelling» .

The IS (Iosef Stalin) heavy tanks were some of the most widely used AFVs produced by the USSR. First entering combat in 1944, the IS-2 went head-to-head with German tanks such as the Panther, Tiger and King Tiger, and post war IS-2s and IS-3s were exported to China, Cuba and North Korea. This book is packed with easy to follow super-detailing and finishing instructions for building the IS-2, IS-3, and IS-3M variants, as well as for the prototype ISU-152, and features kits from manufacturers such as Dragon, Tamiya, and Fujimi. Advanced scratch-building techniques and working with photo-etched and other after-market accessories in 1/35 and 1/76 scales are covered, making this highly accessible book a welcome addition to any modeller’s library..

This book will examine the roots of this prolific tank family, starting with the Soviet Army’s first attempts to replace the legendary T-34 during World War II, and covering the T-43 and the T-44, the more successful T-54, and its ultimate evolution into the T-55.
