Kaman SH-2F Seasprite – Foto e Video

Le Kaman SH-2 Seasprite is a ship-based helicopter originally developed in the late 1950s as a fast utility helicopter for the United States Navy. In the 1970s, anti-submarine, anti-surface threat capabilities were added to the design, including over-the-horizon targeting, resulting in modifying most existing UH-2 models to the SH-2 Seasprite. This aircraft extends and increases shipboard sensor and weapon capabilities against several types of enemy threats, including submarines of all types, surface ships and patrol craft that may be armed with anti-ship missiles. It served with the U.S. Navy from the 1960s until the last SH-2G helicopters were retired in 2001.

Le Kaman SH-2F Seasprite è una variante dell'SH-2 Seasprite, un elicottero navale sviluppato e prodotto dal produttore americano Kaman Aircraft Corporation. L'SH-2F era stato progettato per missioni di guerra antisommergibile ed era equipaggiato con un sonar a immersione, un rilevatore di anomalie magnetiche e siluri. L'SH-2F è entrato in servizio con la US Navy nel 1973 ed è stato schierato su varie fregate e cacciatorpediniere.
Le SH-2F Aveva anche un ruolo secondario di ricerca e soccorso, utility e guardia aerea. L'SH-2F era alimentato da due motori turboalbero General Electric T58-GE-8F, che gli davano una velocità massima di 265 km/h e un'autonomia di 679 km. L'SH-2F aveva un rotore principale a quattro pale e un rotore di coda a quattro pale. L'SH-2F poteva trasportare fino a tre membri dell'equipaggio e aveva un peso massimo al decollo di 5.805 kg. L'SH-2F è stato ritirato dalla US Navy nel 1993 e sostituito dall'SH-60 Seahawk. Alcuni degli elicotteri SH-2F furono venduti ad altri paesi, come la Nuova Zelanda e il Perù.
