1. Центауро is a family of Italian military vehicles originating from a wheeled tank destroyer for light to medium territorial defense and tactical reconnaissance. It was developed by a consortium of manufacturers, the Società Consortile Iveco Fiat – OTO Melara (CIO). Iveco Fiat was tasked with developing the hull and propulsion systems while Oto Melara was responsible for developing the turrets and weapon systems. Over the years, the Centauro platform has been developed into multiple variants to fulfill other combat roles, such as infantry fighting vehicle or self-propelled howitzer.

The B1 Centauro is a wheeled tank destroyer designed for light to medium territorial defense and tactical reconnaissance. The vehicle has an 8×8 configuration and is armed with a 105 mm/52 caliber Oto Melara gun, capable of firing standard NATO ammunition. The B1 Centauro has a crew of four and a high mobility and speed, thanks to its powerful Iveco V6 turbo-diesel engine and hydropneumatic suspension. The B1 Centauro entered service with the Italian Army in 1991 and has been used in various peacekeeping missions, such as in Iraq and Lebanon. The vehicle has also been exported to Spain, Jordan and Oman. The B1 Centauro is part of a family of vehicles that includes the Freccia infantry fighting vehicle and the Draco self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.
