The Piaggio P-149D is a variant of the Piaggio P-149, a 1950s Italian utility and liaison aircraft designed and built by Piaggio. The P-149 was developed as a four-seat touring version of the Piaggio P-148, a two-seat trainer aircraft. The P-149D was built under licence by Focke-Wulf in West Germany for the German Air Force and Navy. The P-149D had a retractable tricycle landing gear and was powered by a Lycoming GO-480 engine with 270 hp. The P-149D was used for training and utility roles until 1990. The P-149D had a maximum speed of 305 km/h, a service ceiling of 6,000 m and a range of 1,090 km. The P-149D was also operated by other countries such as Austria, Israel, Italy, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda.
