Hellmut G. Haasis nasceu em 1942 na cidade de Mühlacker, no sudoeste da Alemanha. Seus estudos incluíram teologia, história, sociologia e ciência política. É autor de Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, genannt Jud Süß: Finanzier, Freidenker, Justizopfer e de Tod em Prag: Das Attentat auf Reinhard Heydrich. Ele também publicou contos, poemas, dramas e peças de rádio, bem como um romance em dialeto suábio. Recebeu o prêmio Thaddäus Troll, o prêmio Schubart e o prêmio Civis.Guilherme Odom Estudou na Freie Üniversität Berlin, entrando na universidade em 1961, quando a construção do Muro estava começando. Ele possui um Ph.D. em alemão pela Universidade de Tulane.
