Photo gallery on a Churchill Crocodile tank, The Tank Churchill or more officially, Infantry Tank MkIV or A22, is a British tank used during World War II. It was the last outcome of the concept of an infantry tank, then in force in the British army. It was known for its strong armour, and for serving as the basis for many special derivatives, Hobart's Funnies. After a difficult start, it was produced to nearly 8,400 copies and served honourably in the British Army until 1952. It was named after Winston Churchill, who, in addition to being the prime minister of the time, had played an important role in the emergence of the first tanks during the First World War. He was quoted as saying: "This tank has even more flaws than I do."
