Den Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero (italiensk for spurvhauk) var en tre-motors italiensk medium bombefly med en tre-og-metall struktur. Opprinnelig designet som et raskt passasjerfly, mellom 1937 og 1939 satte dette lavvingede monoplanet 26 verdensrekorder, og kvalifiserte det for en stund som den raskeste mellomstore bombeflyet i verden. Den så først handling under den spanske borgerkrigen og fløy på alle fronter der Italia var involvert under andre verdenskrig.

Redaksjonelle anmeldelser : For any fan of the Reno Unlimited races or any dye-hard aviation nut, nothing sounds nicer than the bariton hum of the Bristol Centaurus piston engine of the Hawker sjø raseri. Produced only after the end of WW2, the Sea Fury is one of the best single engine fighter planes ever produced by the British aviation industry before the Hunter jet from the same company. The present book provides a good amount of historical information, ample B&W illustrations and a good mix of close-ups and technical drawings all of which should please modelers as well. Kev Darling’s work is well researched and even details today’s privately owned Sea Furies in the USA and out of country. A good book.

Fotogalleri på en Hawker Sea Fury FBII fighter, The Sjø raseri var et britisk jagerfly utviklet for Royal Navy av produsenten Hawker-Siddeley under andre verdenskrig. Det var Royal Navys siste propelldrevne fly, et av de raskeste enmotors stemplene som noen gang er bygget, og det siste propelldrevne jagerflyet som skjøt ned et jetfly.

Le Hawker raseri tok over etter Hawker Tempest og Hawker Typhoon. Utviklet i 1942 av ingeniør Sidney Camm som svar på en anbudsinnbydelse utstedt av RAF (Royal Air Force) for å erstatte den utdaterte Tempest II. Grunnlaget for konseptet var å designe en Tempest ved å gjøre den lettere ved bruk av dens halvelliptiske vinge plassert i midten av skroget, som selv var identisk med Tempest. Forskjellene mellom de to flyene var monocoque-modus og hevet cockpit som ga piloten bedre synlighet.

The Panzerkampfwagen IV (Pz.Kpfw. IV) commonly known as the Panzer IV was a medium tank developed in Nazi Germany in the late 1930s and used extensively during the Second World War. Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 161. Designed as an infantry-support tank, the Panzer IV was not originally intended to engage enemy armor—that function was performed by the lighter Panzer III. However, with the flaws of pre-war doctrine becoming apparent and in the face of Soviet T-34 tanks, the Panzer IV soon assumed the tank-fighting role of its increasingly obsolete cousin. The most widely manufactured and deployed German tank of the Second World War, the Panzer IV was used as the base for many other fighting vehicles, including the Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun, Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer, the Wirbelwind self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon, and the Brummbär self-propelled gun.

Den Sherman Firefly was a World War II British variant of the American Sherman tank, fitted with the powerful British 17 pounder anti-tank gun as its main weapon. Originally conceived as a stopgap until future British tank designs came into service, the Sherman Firefly became the most common vehicle with the 17 pounder in World War II. Though the British expected to have their own new tank models developed soon, British Major George Brighty championed the already-rejected idea of mounting the 17 pounder in the existing Sherman. With the help of Lieutenant Colonel Witheridge and despite official disapproval, he managed to get the concept accepted. This proved fortuitous, as both the Challenger and Cromwell tank designs experienced difficulties and delays.
