The Tank, Heavy, ΤΟΓ ΙΙ* was a prototype British tank design produced in the early part of the Second World War in case the battlefields of northern France devolved into a morass of mud, trenches and craters as had happened during the First World War. When this did not happen the tank was deemed unnecessary and the project terminated. A development of the TOG I design, only a single prototype was built before the project was dropped.

Περισσότερες πληροφορίες:

The TOG2 was a British super-heavy tank prototype that was designed during World War II by a group of veteran tank designers known as “The Old Gang”. The TOG2 was based on the previous TOG1 model, but with a lower track path and a different turret. The TOG2 was intended to operate in muddy and trench-filled terrain, similar to that of World War I. However, by the time the TOG2 was completed in 1941, it was already obsolete and unsuitable for modern warfare.
The TOG2 weighed 80 tons and had a maximum speed of 8.5 mph. It was armed with a 17-pounder gun and a Besa machine gun. The TOG2 underwent several trials and modifications, but never entered production or service. It was eventually abandoned in 1944 and donated to The Tank Museum, where it can be seen today.
