das T-60 tank was a light tank produced by the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1942. It was designed to replace the obsolete T-38 amphibious scout tank and saw action during World War II. The T-60 was based on the chassis of the T-40, but with heavier armor and a conical turret. The main armament was a 20 mm TNSh cannon, which was inadequate against most German tanks. The T-60 was intended to be a mass-produced stopgap measure until more advanced tanks like the T-34 or the KV-1 could be delivered. However, due to the disruption of the Soviet industry by the German invasion, the T-60 remained in service longer than planned and was often used for infantry support, reconnaissance, or towing artillery. The T-60 was also used by some Axis forces, such as Romania, who captured several units and modified them into tank destroyers. The T-60 was eventually replaced by the T-70 in 1943.
