V Grumman F-9 Cougar was a carrier-based fighter aircraft developed by Grumman Aircraft Corporation in the early 1950s. It was a modified version of the Grumman F-9 Panther, with a swept wing and tail to improve its performance at high speeds. The F-9 Cougar was the first jet fighter to enter service with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps with a swept wing design.

The F-9 Cougar was retired from active service in the early 1960s and replaced by more advanced fighters such as the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II and the Grumman F-11 Tiger. The F-9 Cougar was one of the most successful jet fighters of its era and a milestone in the development of naval aviation.
