De Saab JAS 39 Gripen (Engels: "griffin") is een licht eenmotorig multirole gevechtsvliegtuig vervaardigd door het Zweedse ruimtevaartbedrijf Saab. Het werd ontworpen om de Saab 35 Draken en 37 Viggen van de Zweedse luchtmacht (Flygvapnet) te vervangen. De Gripen heeft een deltavleugel- en canardconfiguratie met een ontspannen stabiliteitsontwerp en fly-by-wire vluchtbesturingen. Het wordt aangedreven door de Volvo RM12 en heeft een topsnelheid van Mach 2. Latere vliegtuigen worden aangepast voor navo-interoperabiliteitsnormen en om tijdens de vlucht te tanken.

The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a multirole fighter aircraft developed by the Swedish aerospace company Saab. The Gripen is designed to perform various air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, such as interception, strike, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare. The Gripen is also known for its high maneuverability, low operational costs, and compatibility with different types of weapons and sensors.
