Tthe SS 예레미야 오브라이언 is a historic ship that played a significant role in World War II. It is one of the few remaining Liberty ships, which were mass-produced cargo vessels that carried supplies and troops to support the Allied war effort. The SS Jeremiah O’Brien was named after a Revolutionary War hero who led the first American naval victory against the British in 1775. The ship was built in Maine in 1943 and participated in several important missions, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944. After the war, the ship was retired and stored in a reserve fleet until it was restored and turned into a museum ship in 1979.
