The 152mm BR-2 Gun Mod.1935 was a Soviet heavy artillery piece that was developed in the 1930s and used in World War II. It was designed as a siege gun for breaking through fortified enemy positions and destroying bunkers, pillboxes, and other concrete structures. The gun had a caliber of 152.4mm and a barrel length of 32.5 calibers. It fired a high-explosive shell weighing 48.78kg with a muzzle velocity of 655m/s and a maximum range of 24.6km.
The gun was mounted on a wheeled carriage that could be towed by a tractor or a truck. The gun crew consisted of 15 men and the rate of fire was one round per minute. The gun was also capable of firing armor-piercing shells that could penetrate up to 203mm of steel at 500m distance. The BR-2 was used by the Red Army in the battles of Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Berlin, and other major engagements of the Eastern Front. It was also supplied to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army during the Chinese Civil War.
