Lisätietoja:

The Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander is a versatile and reliable aircraft that has been in service for over 50 years. It was designed by John Britten and Desmond Norman, who founded the Britten-Norman company in 1953. The Islander is a light utility aircraft and regional airliner that can carry up to 10 passengers or various types of cargo. It can operate from short and unprepared airstrips, making it ideal for remote areas and island hopping.
The Islander first flew on June 13th, 1965, powered by two Rolls-Royce/Continental IO-360B piston engines. Later models used more powerful Lycoming O-540-E engines or Rolls Royce Model 250 B17 turboprop engines. The Islander has a low wing design with fixed tricycle landing gear and a constant chord wing. The cabin is spacious and modular, allowing for easy reconfiguration between different roles such as commuter, executive, freight, air ambulance and special mission.
The Islander is one of the best-selling commercial aircraft types produced in Europe, with over 1,280 units built so far. It has been used by more than 30 military operators around the world for various tasks such as surveillance, reconnaissance, patrol and transport. The Islander is still in production today by Britten-Norman, which also offers maintenance, support and upgrade services for its customers.
