Den Sukhoj Su-27 is a Russian fighter jet that was designed to compete with the US fourth-generation fighters such as the F-14 Tomcat and the F-15 Eagle. It has a twin-engine design and can perform supermaneuverable maneuvers. It was first flown in 1977 and entered service in 1985 with the Soviet Air Forces. It has been developed into several variants, such as the Su-30, Su-33, Su-34, and Su-35. It has also been exported to many countries, including China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The Su-27 is known by the NATO reporting name Flanker.
