The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (“Arrow”) was a World War II heavy fighter built by the Dornier company. The Pfeil’s performance was much better than other twin-engine designs due to its unique “push-pull” layout and the much lower drag of the in-line alignment of the two motors. The Luftwaffe was desperate to get the design into operational use, but delays in engine deliveries meant only a handful were delivered before the war ended.

Photo gallery of a Yakovlev Yak-3, The Yakovlev Yak-3 was a World War II Soviet fighter aircraft. Robust and easy to maintain, it was much liked by pilots and ground crew alike. It was one of the smallest and lightest major combat fighters fielded by any combatant during the war, and its high power-to-weight ratio gave it excellent performance. It proved a formidable dogfighter. Marcel Albert, the official top-scoring World War II French ace, who flew the Yak in USSR with the Normandie-Niémen Group, considered it a superior aircraft to the P-51D Mustang and the Supermarine Spitfire. After the war ended, it flew with the Yugoslav and Polish Air Forces.

When the T-43 was cancelled, the Soviet command made the difficult decision to retool the factories to produce a new model of T-34 with a turret ring enlarged from 1,425 mm (56 in) to 1,600 mm (63 in), allowing a larger turret to be fitted. The T-43’s turret design was hurriedly adapted by V. Kerichev at the Krasnoye Sormovo Factory to fit the T-34. The resulting new T-34-85 tank had a much better gun and finally, a three-man turret with radio (which had previously been in the hull). Now the commander needed only to command the tank, leaving the operation of the gun to the gunner and the loader. Although a T-34-85 was still not a match for a Panther, the improved firepower made it much more effective than before. The decision to improve the existing design instead of tooling up for a new one allowed the Soviets to manufacture tanks in such numbers that the difference in capabilities could be considered insignificant. In May 1944, the Wehrmacht had only 304 Panthers operating on the Eastern Front, while the Soviets had increased T-34-85 production to 1,200 tanks per month.

The Dornier Do 24 was a broad-beamed hull flying boat designed to perform reconaissance, bomber, maritime patrol , search and rescue duties. Developed by Dornier as replacement of the old “Wal”, the new Do-24 was characterized by a power plant of three 940 HP Bramo wing-mounted radial engines. The solution adopted, much more modern and reliable than the previous one, combined with a robust parasol-wing and twin tails, allowed to Dornier Do-24 to reach a top speed of 340 Km/h. Thanks to its range of 2,700 Km and thanks to its offensive load of 1,200 Kg, the Dornier Do-24 has been used for several operational tasks on all fronts. Furthermore it has been appreciate for its reliability and flexibility and, due to this, it served with German Luftwaffe during all the years of World War II.

Joining Dragon’s previously released 1/35 scale plastic kit of a Desert Raider 4×4 Truck is this second kit with a different weapons configuration! The famed Special Air Service (SAS) of the British Army was formed in July 1941 by David Stirling. It was a commando force designed to operate deep behind enemy lines,something it did very successfully. Specially adapted vehicles were used in North Africa, including the famous 4×4 1/4-ton Truck, though heavily modified for its behind-the-lines role. The vehicle began appearing in July 1942. They were generally stripped down to save weight and, for operations in the hot climate,the grill was removed and a water condenser fitted. Weapons such as Lewis and Vickers K machine guns were mounted for use against ground or aerial targets.

The Douglas A-3“Skywarrior”was a strategic nuclear bomber developed for the US Navy. The aircraft had a largely conventional semi-monocoque fuselage, with two J57 turbojet engines in underwing nacelles, A-3’s wings can be folded for storage below deck, radar-controlled tail turret and a crew of three. The A-3 Skywarrior project started in 1947，The prototype XA3D-1 first flew on 28 October 1952, entered service with the Navy Heavy Attack Squadron One in 1956.Production ended in 1961. Douglas total built 282 Skywarriors.
