The 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking is a German SS division made up of foreign volunteers, mostly Scandinavian but also from other European countries. During World War II, the division evolved from a motorized infantry formation to a Panzer division. Formed in November 1940 as Germania, her name changed to Wiking at the end of 19401. In total, the SS Wiking Panzer Division counted 55 men decorated with the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
