Att gå med i Dragons tidigare släppta plastsats i skala 1/35 av en Desert Raider 4×4 Truck är detta andra kit med en annan vapenkonfiguration! Den berömda Special Air Service (SAS) i den brittiska armén bildades i juli 1941 av David Stirling. Det var en kommandostyrka utformad för att operera djupt bakom fiendens linjer, något den gjorde mycket framgångsrikt. Specialanpassade fordon användes i Nordafrika, inklusive den berömda 4×4 1/4-tons lastbilen, men kraftigt modifierad för sin roll bakom linjerna. Fordonet började dyka upp i juli 1942. De skalades i allmänhet ner för att spara vikt och för operationer i det varma klimatet togs grillen bort och en vattenkondensor monterades. Vapen som Lewis och Vickers K maskingevär monterades för användning mot mark- eller luftmål.

The Douglas A-3"Skywarrior"var ett strategiskt atombombplan utvecklat för den amerikanska flottan. Flygplanet hade en i stort sett konventionell halvmonocoque-flygkropp, med två J57-turbojetmotorer i underliggande naceller, A-3: s vingar kan vikas för förvaring under däck, radarstyrt svanstorn och en besättning på tre. A-3 Skywarrior-projektet startade 1947,Prototypen XA3D-1 flög först den 28 oktober 1952, gick i tjänst med Navy Heavy Attack Squadron One 1956.Produktionen slutade 1961. Douglas byggde totalt 282 Skywarriors.

The T-62 originally was conceived as a companion weapon to the T-55.Being Essentially a T55 up gunned with the2A20 115mm cannon. Both the T-55 and the T-62 Used the same wheels, track, engine, transmission, hatches and other fittings. The primary differences between the two vehicles were the T-62’s lengthened hull and new turret design. The new UT-5 can-non could fire its BR-5 APFSDS steel round through approximately 300mm of armor at a range of 1000 meters. This was adequate to deal with the then perceived threat of such NATO tanks as the American M-48 and later models of the British Centurion. The T-62 was meant to add long range firing capability to Soviet tank regiments being placed alongside T-55s, but in the later years of its deployment it fulfilled much the same role as the T-55. Despite being introduced in 1960, the improved performance of its successors, the T-72, the T-62 still sees service today in many of the world’s army the Arab nations being the largest consumers outside the Warsaw pact. Egypt, Iraq, and Syria have been notable users of the T-62, Israel has acquired a quantity of T-62s in clashes with its neighbors and has rebuilt them to IDF standards.

När Tyskland försökte rusta upp på 1930-talet inför andra världskriget förlitade sig militärledningen starkt på Pz.Kpfw.I. Cirka 1 493 exempel av alla slag byggdes och dessa lätta stridsvagnar tjänstgjorde i tidiga kampanjer trots att de bara skulle vara träningsplattformar. Massproduktionen av Ausf.A började 1934, medan den förbättrade Ausf.B med en annan motor dök upp i augusti 1935. Ausf.B förlängdes och den hade fem väghjul per sida. Panzer I var tunt bepansrad med bara 13 mm stål på sin tjockaste punkt. Den opererade med en besättning på två – befälhavaren/skytten och föraren. En ovanlig version av denna lilla tank var Abwurfvorrichtung, bokstavligen ett rivningsladdningslager. Dessa modifierade stridsvagnar hittades vanligtvis i panzer-pionier-bataillon av panserdivisioner 1940 i tid för kampanjen i Västeuropa. Ombyggnaden bestod av en anordning monterad på bakdäcket som kunde sänka en 50 kg sprängladdning på eller mot en fältbefästning innan den sedan detonerades.

Siluro a lenta Corsa (Slc) or slow course torpedo, also know as the Maiale or Pig, was designed by the Italians in the late 1930s using the knowledge they had gained while pionnering midget submarines and special assault craft during the First World War. It was powered by an electric motor and had a charge-head containing 550lb (250Kg) on TNT. The early SLC served as a model for the British ‘Chariot’. Between 1941 and the Italian armistice of 1943 ‘human torpedos’ scored a number of successes against Aliied shipping. Their most famous attack came in 1941 in Alexandria harbour when three of them seriously damaged the British battleships Valiant and Queen Elizabeth. This is on of the later streamlined craft which fell into British hands after the occupation of Genoa in April 1945.

Den Martin B-57 Canberra was a twin jet engine tactical bomber that has equipped the United States Air Force from the mid of 50s. Its robust aerodynamic design and its great reliability made it ideal for the role of tactical bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. It was equipped with two Wright J65 turbojet engine and it was able to reach 960 km / h. Thanks to its bomb bay and its four external hardpoints it was able to carry an offensive load of 3,300 Kg. During its long operating activities, several versions had been developed. In particular the B-57G, derived from the B-57B, was developed as night intruder. Easily recognizable by the added “radome”, the B-57G played an important role during the Vietnam War to support combats along the Ho Chi Minh trail. It was equipped with a new radar, a more modern avionics and, in particular, a variety of sensors able of dropping laser guided bombs.

The subject of Dragon’s latest 1/72 scale plastic kit is a delightful model of the American-designed Sikorsky SH-3G Sea King helicopter. Originally, the twin-engine SH-3 Sea King was used primarily in the role of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) by the US Navy (USN). It was also the first amphibious helicopter in the world and it entered USN service in 1961. Various modifications occurred in its lifespan, with a total of 105 SH-3A and SH-3D craft being converted into the versatile SH-3G. The latter was a cargo, utility and transport helicopter used by the USN. In the 1990s the SH-3 Sea King was replaced by the SH-60 Seahawk in the USN. This 1/72 scale Dragon plastic model is well designed and cleverly engineered to induce maximum modeling enjoyment. The fuselage is correctly proportioned and it’s furnished with a full level of detail both inside and outside. It has a new part to plug the gap where the sonar was originally located. The foldable rotor blades are made to true scale thickness too. With appropriate Cartograf decal markings for several USN squadrons available, this SH-3G is ready to lift off in service of the navy!
