Dobitnik je nagrade Tadeus Trol, nagrade Šubart i nagrade Civis.Vilijam Odom studirao na Freie Üniversität Berlin, ulaskom na univerzitet 1961. Doktorirao je na nemačkom sa Univerziteta Tulejn.
