Ena izmed najbolj proizvedenih variant je bil A-4, ki je ponujal močnejše motorje, izboljšan oklep in obsežno oborožitev. Standardno oborožitev je bilo sestavljeno iz bomb SC 250 in SC 500, ki so tehtale približno 3.310-4.410 lb (1.500-2.000 kg). Od leta 1939 do 1945 je bilo proizvedenih več kot 16.000 Ju 88, danes pa obstajata le dva popolna letala. Komplet ima novo orodje, naravno vduljene panelne linije, podroben kokpit, obsežno opremljeno notranjost, ter ločene nadzorne površine in pristajalne zakrilca.
