General Characteristics

The Type 85-IIM is a Chinese Main Battle Tank, part of the Type 85 series developed by NORINCO primarily for the export market. It represents a significant modernization of the Type 80/88 chassis. Key improvements over earlier models include the introduction of a new, welded turret with composite armor and, crucially, a shift to a powerful 125 mm smoothbore gun paired with an autoloader. This modernization reduced the crew from four to three. The Type 85-IIM and its Pakistani variant (Type 85-IIAP) have been exported to countries including Pakistan and Uganda.
