De SFINX (Secret Project for High Intensity and New Conflicts) werd ontwikkeld door Panhard als een particuliere onderneming om te voldoen aan een EBCR-eis (Engine Blinde de Reconnaissance et de Combat) van het Franse leger. De EBRC staat voor gepantserd voertuig voor verkenning en gevechten. Een nieuw gepantserd voertuig is bedoeld om de verouderde AMX-10RC en ERC-90 Sagaie te vervangen.

The SPHINX was a 6×6 armored vehicle concept developed by Panhard (now Arquus) as a private venture and a candidate for the French Army’s EBRC (Armoured Vehicle for Reconnaissance and Combat) program, aimed at replacing the older ERC-90 Sagaie.
