2007 2S4 Tyulpan (often spelled Tulpan, Russian: 2С4 «Тюльпан»; English: tulip) is a Soviet 240 mm self-propelled heavy mortar. “2S4” is its GRAU designation. The Tyulpan is the largest mortar system in use today.

The 2S4 Tyulpan is a self-propelled mortar of Soviet origin that has a caliber of 240 mm. It is the largest mortar system in use today and can fire various types of ammunition, including nuclear and chemical rounds. The 2S4 Tyulpan has a crew of five and is based on a modified GM-123 chassis. It can travel at a maximum speed of 62 km/h on road and has an operational range of 420 km.
The 2S4 Tyulpan can fire one round per minute and has a maximum range of 19.6 km. The mortar is mounted on the rear of the vehicle and can be elevated from 45 to 80 degrees. The loading of the heavy projectiles, which weigh up to 230 kg, is done by a crane and an automatic loader. The 2S4 Tyulpan entered service with the Soviet Army in 1972 and was used in several conflicts, such as the Soviet-Afghan War, the Iran-Iraq War and the Chechen Wars. It is still in service with the Russian Federation and some former Soviet states.
