Le Dassault Super Mystère was a French fighter-bomber and was the first Western European supersonic aircraft to enter mass production. The Super Mystère represents the final step in evolution which began with the Dassault Ouragan and progressed through the Mystère II/III and Mystère IV. While earlier Mystère variants could attain supersonic speeds only in a dive, the Super Mystère could exceed the speed of sound in level flight. This was achieved thanks to the new thin wing with 45° of sweep (compared with 41° of sweep in the Mystère IV and only 33° in Mystère II) and the use of an afterburner-equipped turbojet engine.

Il Dassault Super Mystere B.2 era un cacciabombardiere francese entrato in servizio nel 1958. Fu il primo aereo supersonico dell'Europa occidentale ad entrare nella produzione di massa e il primo al mondo a superare Mach 2 in volo livellato. Il Super Mystere B.2 era una versione migliorata del precedente Mystere IV, con un motore più potente, un'ala a freccia e una fusoliera ridisegnata. Il Super Mystere B.2 era armato con due cannoni da 30 mm e poteva trasportare una varietà di bombe, razzi e missili. Ha visto azioni di combattimento nella crisi di Suez, nella guerra dei sei giorni e nella guerra di logoramento, principalmente con l'aviazione israeliana. Il Super Mystere B.2 fu ritirato dal servizio nel 1977.
