Fotógaléria egy Flak 36-on, A kánon kifejezés 88 mm-es regroupe deux pièces d’artillerie de l’armée Allemande durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. A l’origine c’est une pièce à vocation antiaérienne. La grande polyvalence de ces deux pièces a fait qu’elles équipèrent toutes deux des blindés allemands dans la deuxième moitié de la guerre, dont le Tiger. La première, le 88 mm-es lomba18 és változatai, egy légvédelmi érme. Nagy számban állították elő, és ez az alapja a "Szárny 88mm".

La seconde pièce, le Pak43/1 88mm et ses variantes, apparaît en 1943 et est une pièce orientée vers un usage antichar, tache où elle excelle, par contre son coté anti-aérien est délaissé. Arrivant plus tard que la première et étant moins polyvalente elle a été nettement moins produite que les pièces Flak 88mm. Le point commun à ces deux pièces est leur puissance de feu, leur grand pouvoir de pénétration ainsi que leur cadence de tir, de plus leur grande précision est remarquable pour l’époque. Elles ont souvent été confondues et appelées communément “88" a szövetséges hadseregek, míg a németek "acht acht" -nak (nyolc-nyolc) nevezték őket.

This high-flying fighter was armed with eight 12.7mm machineguns that proved very useful in the intense fighting that occurred in the European skies. Equipped with drop tanks for longer range, the P-47D was then able to escort the bombers all the way to the German border. The Thunderbolt also allowed many Allied pilots to become Aces. Bomber crews plagued day after day by intensive German interceptions, would remark that the presence of the P-47 was of great help.

In 1943, the 8th Air Force was launching raids on Germany with its B17 and B24 from England. The aim was to destroy German main production factories. Unfortunately, losses during theses missions were very heavy and it became urgent to develop a fighter able to escort the bombers over enemy soil. The limited ranges of the Spitfire and P-38 Lightning did not make these fighters able to go further than Paris, leaving the bombers alone to fend for themselves for the rest of the flight. With the development of the P-47, this problem was overcome. The P-47 was the first single-seated fighter to be equipped with a supercharger, allowing it to fly at the same high altitude as the bombers.

Nem csak azért, mert ez volt az egyik legtöbbet épített harcosok a mai napig (14.500 egység), hanem azért, mert nagyon hatékony volt a tűz támogató küldetések, olyannyira, hogy végül lett a fő szerepe, mint a gyenge elég gyenge teljesítményt egy harcos nem tette lehetővé, hogy versenyezzen a megfelelője a P-51 Mustang. Nyers felületével és méretével kiérdemelte a Scourge becenevet (a Juggernaut rövidítése).

On September 7th 1945, the allied nations were staggered by Russia’s disclosure of their JS-3 heavy tank at a victory parade in Berlin. Although coded a “JS” (Josef Stalin) tank, it had a totally different appearance from its preceding models. The one-piece cast turret had a simple flattened hemispherical shape. The maximum thickness of the turret armor reached 250mm. The front hull was constructed by welding three 120mm thick armor plates, forming a shape like a ship’s bow.

The main armament used the same L/43 122mm gun as the JS-2. The 520 horsepower diesel engine provided 40km/h of maximum speed. With the concerted effort of the talented Russian tank engineers such as N.L. Jukhov and Z.A. Kotin, the prototype was completed in October 1944 and the mass production began in the following year. There have been a lot of controversy concerning whether or not the JS-3 saw any fighting during the Berlin campaign. At least one regiment was equipped with the JS-3 by then, but it’s still uncertain if they were committed to the actual fighting. Other sources claim that it was first deployed in combat against the Japanese in Manchuria in August 1945. Incorporating several modifications, its production was continued until 1951 and about 1,800 JS-3’s were produced. Its simple and effective turret and hull configuration deeply influenced not only the following Russian tanks, but also fighting vehicles of the western nations.
