Lla Panthère noire K2 (Hangul: K2 ‘Marque noire’; Hanja: K2 ‘黑豹’) est un char de combat principal sud-coréen de nouvelle génération conçu par l’Agence sud-coréenne pour le développement de la défense et fabriqué par Hyundai Rotem. Développé comme un char de combat principal moderne qui remplacera la plupart des chars M48 Patton restants et complétera la série K1 de chars de combat principaux actuellement mis en service par l’armée sud-coréenne, le K2 Black Panther combine un canon principal de calibre 55 de calibre 120 mm chargé automatiquement, un blindage composite avancé ainsi que des systèmes de protection active à mort dure et douce. La production de masse a commencé en 2013 et les premiers K2 ont été déployés avec les forces armées en juin 2014. Le K2 coûte plus de 8,5 millions de dollars par unité, ce qui en fait l’un des chars de combat principaux les plus chers en service, de tous les pays.

General Characteristics
The K2 Black Panther is a modern Main Battle Tank developed by Hyundai Rotem for the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) to replace older tanks and complement the K1 series. Designed as a 4th-generation MBT, it incorporates advanced domestic and foreign technologies, notably a high-velocity 120 mm gun with an autoloader, sophisticated composite armor, and a hydropneumatic suspension system that allows for posture control. It is considered one of the most technologically advanced and expensive tanks in the world.

Armament and Fire Control

Protection and Mobility

- Active Protection: Fitted with a soft-kill Active Protection System (APS) that includes a Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS) and automatic deployment of Visual and Infrared Screening Smoke (VIRSS) grenades.

- Deep Fording: Equipped with an elaborate snorkel system that allows it to cross rivers and water obstacles up to 4.1–5 meters deep.
