Hellmut G. Haasis est né en 1942 dans la ville de Mühlacker dans le sud-ouest de l’Allemagne. Il a étudié la théologie, l’histoire, la sociologie et les sciences politiques. Il est l’auteur de Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, genannt Jud Süß : Finanzier, Freidenker, Justizopfer et de Tod in Prag : Das Attentat auf Reinhard Heydrich. Il a également publié des nouvelles, des poèmes, des pièces de théâtre et des pièces radiophoniques, ainsi qu’un roman en dialecte souabe. Il est récipiendaire du prix Thaddäus Troll, du prix Schubart et du prix Civis.William Odom a étudié à l' Freie Üniversität Berlin, entrant à l’université en 1961 alors que la construction du mur commençait. Il est titulaire d’un doctorat en allemand de l’Université de Tulane.
