The de Havilland DH.84 Dragon was a successful small commercial aircraft that was designed and built by the de Havilland company in the 1930s. It was a twin-engined version of the single-engined de Havilland Fox Moth, with a plywood box fuselage and folding wings. It could carry six passengers and their luggage on short-haul routes, such as between London and Paris, with low fuel consumption and high reliability.
The Dragon was also used for military training, transport and communication purposes, as well as by private owners and charter operators. The Dragon was popular worldwide, especially in Australia, where it was produced locally during the Second World War. The Dragon was later replaced by the more powerful and elegant de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide, but some of them remained in service until the late 1950s.
